Facts About The Rainforest

This is my "facts about the rainforest" app. We made this before we made our dioramas. Mine was about the rainforest. In the rainforest the water can get up to 10 cm of rain each month. There are many different animals in the rainforest, for example, there are so many types of colourful and tropical birds. How do animals survive in the rainforest? Animals survive by their adaptations, such as the poison dart frog. The poison dart frog seeps poison out of its skin when it is scared. I think I would like to go to the Amazon rainforest.

My Rainforest Diorama

Yesterday I finished my diorama. It was about the rainforest. In the bottom corner there is a frog jumping out of a bush, a bird perched on a branch and a snake slithering along the branch.
We made these dioramas because we were learning about habitats and what is in it. We chose a habitat and made a diorama about it and I chose a rainforest as you can see. They were loads of fun and i really wanted to do one again.

Cultral Week

This is me in Brazilian class learning dances and wearing type of hat that is part of a costume. In Brazilian we learnt dances, how to count to ten in Portuguese, how to say hello and goodbye and ate Brazilian food. They wear this hat in Rio when they have a big celebration. It is called the Carnival. In the carnival they dance, sing, celebrate and many other things. One day I would like to go to see the carnival.

My Math Pattern

This is my maths pattern that I did. There were 100 squares to colour. You either did a pattern or just random colours. I did a pattern and I was the last to finish in my class because I tried to be the neatest. Once we finished colouring, we counted the squares with blue and all the other colours. Then, we wrote the fraction, decimal and percentage of each colour. It was loads of fun and I want to do it again.

My Cross

This is my cross that I made. I was the first to finish in my class and I am starting a second cross. I am very happy with my cross and hope the second one comes out just as good. We are making these so that they can go up around the school.

The Author Visit

This week we had an author visit. His name was Raymond Huber. He is an author and he writes really good books. He was taking part in the Storylines book tour and that is why he came to talk to us. He has written many good books such as the Flight of the Honey Bee, Wings, Sting, Gecko and Peace Warriors. Flight of the Honey Bee, Wings and Sting are all about a bee. He also told us how he writes the books and edits them. It was loads of fun and I hope we have more authors come in and teach us about writing and books.

Abraham and Sarah

Today at school we made a short slide in 15 minutes. It was a story from the Old Testament and my buddies for the activity were Setaita and Tupou. Our slide was the last slide. I thought it was going to be easy but it wasn't. It turns out that making a slide in 15 minutes is tough but it was a good lesson. This was so much fun so I hope you enjoy it. Abraham and Sarah are people who were chosen by God to make a new life it was tough because you just have a normal life and then you have to change everything. I don't know if I could do that, but they did and they were rewarded with a child.

Cyber Safety

This is my cyber safety video that I did with my friends. We made it up in 15 minutes and some of it we made on the spot. I am the person on the right and Molly is the one on the left. Anna and Setaita are the people that butt in and say things. The reason we did this was because we were trying to show what not to post or send on social media.

What you can send on social media:

Your first name
Your username
How many brothers or sisters you have
If you have a cat or dog
and many other things.

What not to send on social media:

Your last name
Parents name
Your address
Your personal information (password to your phone, computer, alarm on your door)

The list goes on. I hope I taught you something about cyber safety.

The Jaguar

Jaguars

Jaguars are the 3rd largest cat in the world. Jaguars have the strongest jaw strength above all cats. The speed of a jaguar can go up to 80 km per hour or 50 miles per hour. This is mainly about the life cycle, appearance, habitat and diet of the jaguar. Read on if you want to learn more.

Life Cycle-
Jaguars mate all year round. After mating 100 days later the female gives birth to one to four kittens in either a cave, thicket or a den. The kittens are born with their eyes closed. From there the kittens will grow up like a normal cat stay with their mum for about two years and will start hunting at six months. Jaguars live up to 15 to 20 years.

The appearance of a Jaguar-
A Jaguar has yellow- orange fur with black ring like spots which sometimes looks a bit like flowers. Sometimes there are jaguars that are completely black, but if you look real close you can see black spots. To me jaguars always look angry.
Habitat-
Jaguars live in both North and outh America. You are likely to find them near rivers, swamps and in rain forests. Jaguars tend to like damp, hot and muggy places.
Diet-
Jaguars are carnivores which means they eat other animals. Jaguars tend to eat deer, peccary, crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, sloth tapirs, turtles, eggs, frogs, fish and anything they can get their paws on.
I think jaguars are amazing and interesting animals. I hope you enjoyed reading it and learnt something about jaguars.
